Eyewitness: 3 Decades Through World Press Photos (1992) ISBN 0-907621-55-4

Eyewitness gives a vivid visual account of 25 years in our history (1956-1981), through the medium of award-winning press photographs.  It is a stark, violent account, as world events turned more and more ominously towards dramatic conflict, territorial wars and bloody revolutions.  There are moments of humor, joy and magic, yet the highest international photojournalistic attainments are reflected in the hard and disturbing portrayals of the human circus rather than the pretty photos we are used to seeing in picture books.

Indeed Eyewitness is much more than a book on press photography. Harold Evans has, by encapsulating each year in a tight informative commentary, given the reader a telling and entertaining reminder of our history.
